| Why I RideBrad has always had fun in the dirt, whether on foot, riding bicycles, or motorcycles. He was born in Reno, Nevada and began riding motorcycles when he was seven years old. "I craved riding in the desert and mountains, which became an immense childhood playground." His parents encouraged his love of the outdoors, and along with his two brothers, they had countless extreme adventures.
Brad's bold trips took a turn for the worse with a motorcycle accident at age 13. While descending a difficult hill, he lost control, flew over the bars, and tumbled downward. The motorcycle cartwheeled behind him, ultimately smashing on top of him. His friends at the time thought this was extremely funny. "I remember them laughing right after the crash. I told myself 'I'm not hurt, get up and brush it off.'" After five days of self imposed agony, the doctors found that he had fractured a wrist, his hip, and 3 vertebrae. "That was a good lesson on what NOT to do. Now I listen to my body and the advice of the doctors." Once healed, Brad focused on his health and kept rolling on two wheels.
In the 1990's, he raced pro hill climb motorcycle events with his brother Todd. They liked the thrill and competition. "It was 20 to 30 seconds of pure adrenaline and horsepower, jumping over rocks, ledges, and near vertical walls."
At 30 years old, Brad bought his first mountain bike and was invited to a group night ride. "Many times I watched as my friends quickly pedaled away, their lights disappearing around the switchback turns. I was hanging off the back, part of nature's food chain and loving it." He became hooked on these rides.
Brad soon started cross-country racing and has now been competing for more than 10 years. In September 2006, he joined Team Sho-Air on his first 24hr four-man race at Hurkey Creek. "It was challenging, fun, and the perfect way to spend my birthday weekend. The first class support we received, was amazing. I feel it is the incredible teamwork and willingness to share knowledge that makes Sho-Air so unique. I hope to see many of you rolling on two wheels, having fun on nature's dirt playground!" | Results | | 2008 | - CALIFORNIA STATE SERIES-RD#4 SEMI-PRO SINGLE SPEED, 2ND
